Rebranding van Android TV, zoals Google TV al suggereerde in Google Home 2.28

Google is vandaag begonnen met het uitrollen van versie 2.28 van de Google Home-app. Nieuwe snaren binnen de APK suggereren sterk dat Android TV zal worden omgedoopt tot Google TV, tenminste op de aankomende Chromecast-dongle van Google.

Een APK-demontage kan vaak functies voorspellen die in een toekomstige update van een applicatie kunnen verschijnen, maar het is mogelijk dat een van de functies die we hier noemen mogelijk niet in een toekomstige release wordt opgenomen. Dit komt omdat deze functies momenteel niet zijn geïmplementeerd in de live build en op elk moment door de ontwikkelaars kunnen worden ingetrokken in een toekomstige build.

De nieuwe tekenreeksen, die hieronder zijn ingesloten, verwijzen naar 'Google TV' in de beschrijving en 'atv' (Android TV) in de titels. We hoorden in mei terug dat Google zal rebranden de nieuwe versie van Android TV

, dus deze snaren zijn uiteindelijk niet verrassend om te zien. Dit is echter meer bewijs dat deze rebranding zal plaatsvinden, hoewel het nog steeds de vraag is of Android TV al dan niet zal worden omgedoopt tot Google TV voor alle toekomstige tv's en settopboxen met het besturingssysteem van Google.

Een ander kenmerk verbindt het merk Chromecast met Android TV. Een retaillek eerder deze week werd onthuld dat het aankomende dongle-apparaat van Google 'Google Chromecast met Google TV' zal heten. In de onderstaande string wordt een 'Chromecast-apparaat' vermeld in de TOS-verklaring van 'Android TV'.

De Google Home 2.28-update blijft ook werken aan het integreren van steeds meer functies van Nest. Er zijn nieuwe activiteiten voor het instellen van Thuis- en Afwezig-routines en het activeren van aanwezigheidsdetectie thuis.

Verwacht wordt dat Google de nieuwe Chromecast zal onthullen op 30 september naast de Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G en een nieuwe slimme Nest-luidspreker. We hebben al laten zien wat naar verwachting het ontwerp van de dongle en de nieuwe Android TV-software zal zijn. We hebben ook al gedeeld wat naar verwachting de hardwarespecificaties zullen zijn, en de eerdere retaillekken onthulden ook de mogelijke vanafprijs van de dongle. Het enige dat overblijft is de bevestiging van deze details op het aankomende evenement van Google.
