Google zal aardbevingswaarschuwingen weergeven in Californië, mogelijk gemaakt door ShakeAlert

Met de Derde pixelfunctiedaling Begin juni heeft Google een aantal nieuwe functies toegevoegd aan Android 10 op Pixel-apparaten. Hiervan heeft Google enkele verbeteringen toegevoegd aan de app Persoonlijke veiligheid door de Crashdetectiefunctie van Pixel 4/4XL naar de Pixel 3-serie en voegt twee nieuwe functies toe: 'Veiligheidscontrole' om contactpersonen voor noodgevallen op de hoogte te houden van uw waar u zich bevindt als u niet reageert op geplande check-ins en "Crisis Alerts" om u te informeren over natuurrampen in jouw gebied.

Hoewel Crisiswaarschuwingen niet voor een specifiek type natuurramp gelden, bereidt Google zich voor op de toevoeging van een waarschuwingsmechanisme specifiek voor aardbevingen. We hebben referenties gezien in de bètaversie van Google Play Services 20.26.12 die het bedrijf heeft toegevoegd voor waarschuwingen over aardbevingen, specifiek in Californië. Deze waarschuwingen worden mogelijk gemaakt door

SchudAlert, een dienst die specifiek voor aardbevingen vroegtijdig waarschuwt westkust.

Een APK-demontage kan vaak functies voorspellen die in een toekomstige update van een applicatie kunnen verschijnen, maar het is mogelijk dat een van de functies die we hier noemen mogelijk niet in een toekomstige release wordt opgenomen. Dit komt omdat deze functies momenteel niet zijn geïmplementeerd in de live build en op elk gewenst moment door Google kunnen worden ingetrokken in een toekomstige build.
